LISTEQ Cloud DesktopNow Available Through APS Ecosystem, Enabling Service Providers to Easily, Affordably Deliver Virtual Desktop Capabilities to SMBs

Rotterdam, The Netherlands, February 5, 2014 – LISTEQ Cloud Desktop, the software product that enables service providers to offer their own Virtual Desktop Service, is now integrated into the Application Packaging Standard (APS) established by Parallels, to plug-and-play web and cloud-based ISV applications into hosting and service providers infrastructure. Through APS integration LISTEQ Cloud Desktop intends to win 8,500 seats within the next 12 months.

As the Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) tendency in many businesses increases, it is drawing interest to hosted Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) segment or Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) and response from service and hosting providers who only require server space to deliver a complete Virtual Desktop service to SMB customers. Compared to traditional VDI solutions tailored for hundreds user size organizations total cost of ownership for VDI DaaS solutions is substantially lower  which makes it ideal for small and midsize business.

“SMBs across Europe have a high willingness to adopt cloud services, indicating that they are likely to go straight to the cloud, rather than taking the intermediate step of installing in-house IT solutions,” said Simon Overgaag, CEO of LISTEQ Cloud Desktop. “With that and the BYOD model penetration, we feel we have the momentum to leverage an easy and affordable solution, targeting SMBs through  the Hosting  and Service Providers channel. LISTEQ chose APS because Parallels is the main ecosystem for servicing SMBs and providing access to the extensive service provider pool all around the world.”

Service providers feel compelled to develop new markets and business segments with potentially high margins like DaaS. According to IDC, the virtual client computing market is projected to grow from US $2.4 billion in 2011 to $3.5 billion in 2016, but up-front costs and complexity will drive organizations to look for an outsourced delivery model, driving the hosted market to $661.1 million by 2016.

Unified standards for packaging software of different types have been lacking for a long time, making integration into web hosting portfolios generate significant costs to both providers and ISVs. Parallels APS is becoming the global standard for the cloud enablement of web and cloud-based applications step over 500 APS apps used for service provider specific services. Service providers can work with Parallels to leverage robust cloud applications, such as LISTEQ Cloud Desktop, to provide a seamless purchase, deployment and maintenance experience for SMBs.

“We are very pleased to have LISTEQ Cloud Desktop join the APS ecosystem,” said John Zanni, Chief Marketing Officer and Vice President of Strategic Alliances, Service Providers at Parallels. “LISTEQ Cloud Desktop is an integrated, complete and easy Virtual Desktop Service, and being integrated with the APS Package makes it very easy for our service providers to bring this product to the market.”
